Villaviciosa is looking for the best homemade bean stew

The Town Hall of Villaviciosa has summoned the Fabes and Fabada Contest for Non-Professionals 2022with which he seeks to reward the best traditional bean stew (with compango), as well as the best bean stew with chunks (any other ingredient). Each category will be awarded 300 euros in cash and the contest is closed to hospitality professionals and even their patients. It will be held on March 27 and the bases can be consulted in today’s edition of the Official Gazette of the Principality of Asturias (BOPA).

The main ingredient, the faba

The Fabes and bean stew contestin its two modalities, it requires that the main ingredient be the faba. The dishes must be presented in a pot or pan equivalent to two portions and never more than half a kilo of beans. Ā«This contest seeks to preserve the customs and the traditional way of elaboration, although any new contribution in the ingredients will be well receivedĀ»explains the City Council of Villaviciosa in the bases that regulate the contest.

You can request your participation in the contest of the best bean stew in Villaviciosa until next March 24 in the municipal register. All natural persons, amateur chefs who want to participate and demonstrate their culinary skills may request participation in these awards.. The requirement is that they be people totally removed from the professional field: “up to second-degree relatives of chefs or owners of tourist establishments in the Principality of Asturias qualified as a restaurant or bar may participate.”

900 euros in prizes for the best bean stew in Villaviciosa

The contest to choose the best non-traditional bean stew from Asturias establishes two first prizes of 300 euros, two second prizes of 100 euros and two third prizes of 50 euros each. Total, Villaviciosa City Council has reserved 900 euros in prizes for this purpose.
