UACh commemorates Women’s Day with 100 university counselors

Chihuahua, Chih.- At Quinta Gameros, the rector of the Autonomous University of Chihuahua, Jesús Villalobos Jión, invited the more than 100 university counselors and technical students and teachers to a commemorative breakfast for Women’s Day, which in the years of Luis Fierro’s rector’s office was never it was given Beyond the camaraderie between the rector and the counselors, Villalobos announced an action plan, in response to requests from students regarding human rights, gender and violence prevention.

Flanked by Secretary General Sergio Facio and the person in charge of the office of the rights of university students Liz Aguilera, Rector Villalobos revealed that for the next school cycles, they intend to implement mandatory training and/or updating courses for university students. teachers from all academic units on gender perspective, human rights, inclusion and combating discrimination, which will be taught by the University Center for Teacher Development.

Part of the actions announced by the UACh include the hiring of a body of psychologists trained in issues of containment and care for victims of violence and discrimination.

At the door, there is also the delivery of a course called “Awareness for empathic care from a gender perspective free of violence” for the psychology staff of the Department of Comprehensive Student Care (DAIE) and academic units.

In turn, at the DAIE, there will be a female psychologist, who will specifically support in accompanying, advisory and containment tasks, this in addition to the female psychologists who provide their services in the UACh academic units.

The University is already working on the creation of a dissemination campaign in relation to university rights, advocacy and how to file a complaint with the Ombudsman, as well as tools for the identification and prevention of harassment and violence against women.

The counselors were informed that an institutional collaboration agreement was signed between the Municipal Women’s Institute aimed at the university community, which includes the creation of safe corridors within campuses I and II of the UACH with the support and coordination of the Municipal Public Security Directorate.

Likewise, the installation of a DSPM command center in the UACH facilities to coordinate with actions of the Chihuahua Shield Platform.
