The pioneer woman star Ree Drummond realizes that one of the most family-friendly dishes in the kitchen is a large plate of nachos. Typically, she serves the dish as an appetizer with lots of messy and delicious toppings. However, Drummond reworked the recipe to turn the items into a salad that could accompany the main dish. This fun twist in the formula allows for a lot of add-ons that make the dish fun. Drummond says “no fork or knife is needed” for this “larger than life” salad.

In an interview with Taste of Home, Drummond recommended starting out as simple as adding new ingredients to a recipe to change it.

“Cooking should be fun!” Drummond declares.
One of its coolest tips includes modifying a recipe to suit your preferences.
Therefore, your grandmother’s cake recipe could be legendary. However, you can add or subtract a handy ingredient and develop an upgrade that is sure to please your clan.
Above all, Drummond advises that cooking shouldn’t be intimidating. It should be fun and exciting.
“You have to do it, do it and do it,” he says. “And you’re going to be very wrong, and it’s not going to be exactly right. But then one day you will prepare the best meal ever.
Ree Drummond talks about her recipe for salad nachos
In a post on her blog Pioneer Woman, Drummond discussed how a regular plate of nachos became a salad.
“Salad nachos taste like a great taco salad, no fork or knife needed!” she admitted.
Drummond went on to call this recipe “greater than life”.
“A layer of chips is coated with just the right amount of beef, beans and queso salsa. It’s topped with a super easy, three-ingredient chipotle-ranch salad dressing. This Tex-Mex salad is bigger than life!
“Like any good plate of loaded nachos, this salad is best finished with a large dollop of pico de gallo and guacamole. Yes, your list of game day snacks and tailgate food can include salad, ”Drummond concluded.
How to make The Pioneer Woman salad nachos
Once you have all the components in place, making salad nachos is so easy that even a novice cook can do it.
Ingredients include ground beef, pinto beans, taco dressing, cabbage, lettuce, and red onion.
Coriander, corn, salt, tortilla chips, cheese, pico de Gallo, and guacamole are also needed.
To create the dish, cook the minced meat, add the beans and taco seasoning with a little water and cook.
So it’s about layering the different tastes and textures of the ingredients in a way that you like.
To top it off, Drummond fixed a bottle of ranch dressing with some heat from chili powder and the flavor of lime juice.
Drummond suggested a great shortcut to make the process of making these nachos easier.
The mix of bagged coleslaw and pre-shredded iceberg lettuce are great shortcut ingredients to replace thinly sliced cabbage and romaine.
