The president of the Confederation of Entrepreneurs of Cuenca (CEOE-CEPYME Cuenca), David Penahas warned that some companies from Cuenca are already “to the limit” operational due to high production costs after the escalation of energy prices and the consequences of the Russian invasion in Ukraine.
Peña spoke in these terms during an informative breakfast with the Cuenca media, where he also highlighted that the cost of living has increased a 8.8 percent in the last yearin relation to the latest data for February of the Consumer Price Index (CPI).
“We started to have companies to the limitPeña has indicated, especially in sectors that depend on energy such as brick factories linked to gas or those that demand a lot of light, in addition to those related to transportation due to the rise in fuel.
And he has predicted: “Energy costs will continue to rise, the margin of companies will be more limited, some will enter losses and some companies will have to stop again.”
ask for respect
On the other hand, Peña has claimed the role of Cuenca’s employers as a social agent to express their initiatives, positions or opinions on different issues. And, in this sense, he has claimed “I respect” after some have described them as “speculators” for defending an alternative mobility plan for the province, while pointing out that they do not rule out “legal action”.
“The fundamental thing for Ceoe-Cepyme is improve the connection of the towns with Cuenca and of our capital with Madrid and Valenciabetting at the same time on investments that will boost economic development and employment”, he added.
For a few weeks, the Cuenca employers have new headquarters in calle Hermanos Becerril number 34a “temporary” space until you can move to the one that is half built in the West Round.
