A Colombian influencer proposed an ‘advertising exchange’ to the famous chef Edgar Nuñez and he told her ‘no’, in the worst way?
Influencer marketing has become a practice as relevant as it is controversial. It is not uncommon for many brands and companies to want to include them in their social media strategy, especially those with thousands or millions of followers. But it seems that this is not the case of the Mexican chef Edgar Nunezwho flatly rejected a Colombian influencer who offered her an “advertising exchange”: a free meal for her and her boyfriend in exchange for posting stories on her Instagram profile.
the famous chef, who is co-owner of the restaurant Jacinta dining room, as well as chef and executive director of the restaurant Sud777revealed the girl through her Twitter account.
“And in my favorite section; ‘international freeloaders’ I leave Manuela”, wrote the Mexican. The post included a screenshot of the message sent to him by the young woman, identified as Manuela Gutierrez.
After praising Edgar’s work, the influencer said that she would come to Mexico at the end of June with her boyfriend and made the request.
“I would love to know if it is possible to carry out an advertising exchange, where I recommend them and show their services on my Instagram through my stories, which will be anchored in a highlightin exchange for a meal for both of them,” Manuela wrote in a private message to Edgar Núñez’s profile.
The chef responded with a long laugh and pointed out that Manuela only has “a quarter of my followers.” And he doesn’t lie. While The Colombian has about 64.8 thousand followers on your Instagram account, Edgar Núñez exceeds 107 thousand followers on the same social network, and another 199,000 on Twitter.
Opinions divided among Internet users
Among the responses to the tweet, the Mexican chef added comments such as: “I didn’t know that eating for free was working” Y “I’m surprised she didn’t ask me to pick her up at the airport”.
User opinions were divided. There were those who applauded that he exhibited the young woman and even branded her “abusive”, as they affirm that today the influencers “already want everything for free”.
Meanwhile, others said that Edgar Núñez’s answer was not the best and it was wrong to expose it that way. They even pointed out that “the chef’s fame rose” and that he could simply say no to the offer, because in the end it was just an exchange like the ones many social media stars do.
