Invites PRI to enjoy the “Ninth Festival of Chiles en Nogada”


Toluca, Mexico; July 14, 2022.- The “Ninth Festival of Chiles en Nogada” to be held in the Region of the Volcanoes, in the State of Mexico, stands out for the promotion of this emblematic Mexican dish, in addition to the fact that, through the gastronomy and artistic-cultural activities, will form a tourist corridor in the eastern zone, said the PRI deputy, Guillermo Zamacona Urquiza.

During the media conference on the “Ninth Festival of Chiles en Nogada”, Zamacona Urquiza thanked the coordinator of the PRI Parliamentary Group, Elías Rescala, for his support, since he always speaks out in favor of disseminating activities that praise the State of Mexico.

The PRI legislator announced that the festival that carries the slogan “From the Mexican countryside to the table” will be from July 22 to September 4 and will feature the presence of two guest countries such as Colombia, five states of the Republic, 17 Mexican municipalities and 30 restaurants.

The Region of the Volcanoes, he said, is the place where, thanks to the production of walnut trees, it was possible to take advantage of the Castile nut to give rise to one of the best dishes of Mexican cuisine: chiles en nogada.

He added that this dish is the perfect representation of the Mexican flag, which has become a rich production of pride and belonging, where the best are the people of Mexiquenses and where, in addition, the effort of the producers of the field, restaurateurs and gourmets.

In this regard, Enrique Jacob García, general director of Agricultural Marketing of the Ministry of the Field, highlighted that the Mexican territory concentrates 80 percent of the walnut production in five municipalities in the eastern zone; Atlautla, Amecameca, Ecatzingo, Ozumba and Ayapango, which is why the Government of the State of Mexico seeks to recognize and make visible the work of producers.

Meanwhile, Alejandro León Balderas, president of the Council of Civil Society Organizations of the State of Mexico, stressed that for this 2022 they foresee an economic spill of 100 million pesos, in order to double that of last year, in addition to the fact that in This festival takes up the principles of the 2030 Agenda, which has to do with sustainable tourism.

Meanwhile, Mauricio Massud Martínez, president of the National Chamber of the Restaurant Industry and Seasoned Foods in the entity (Canirac), recognized the synergy that exists between the Legislative Power, the Government of the State of Mexico, businessmen and the civil association for hold this festival in which there will be security and the appropriate sanitary measures due to the pandemic.

For his part, the president of the Council of Chambers and Business Associations of the State of Mexico (Concaem), Gilberto Sauza Martínez, affirmed that tourism was one of the sectors hardest hit by the pandemic, so this festival will allow the economy to be reactivated in various items and in favor of growth in the entity.

Likewise, Guillermo Cruz Ponce, founding president of the Chiles en Nogada Festival, said that it has been nine years since this dream emerged from civil society, and that it has now found support in the Legislative Power and Government of the State of Mexico.
