Ina Garten makes breakfast fun and easy
Garten always has a plan for entertaining and that goes for breakfast too. It’s usually not as complicated as hosting a dinner party, but there is a chance to overcomplicate breakfast or brunch.
The Food Network host shared her simple tips during an episode of barefoot countess called “Breakfast Feast,” which featured their simple scrambled eggs.
“One of my favorite times to entertain is breakfast,” he explained. “All you need is a plan, a simple menu – you’re ready to go.”
Garten shared an easy strategy for entertaining breakfast: prep a few things ahead of time. “I love having a breakfast party, but who wants to get up at 4:00 in the morning and bake? I don’t,” she said. “What I learned when I ran Barefoot Contessa is that I can make cookies the night before and put them in the oven in the morning and they are fantastic.”
Their Buttermilk Cheddar Biscuits are simple enough to make ahead of time so they are ready to bake before guests arrive.
Ina Garten shared the ‘key’ to perfecting scrambled eggs
Garten included scrambled eggs on her party menu because they are so simple and can feed a crowd. He cracked 10 eggs into a bowl and added half and half, salt and pepper. Garten mixed the ingredients together and added chopped chives, dill, and parsley.
the barefoot countess star added butter to a sauté pan and shared a story about having a breakfast where she made an omelet for each person. “There were like 20 people. I spent the whole time making tortillas,” she said…That was a really bad idea.”
After the butter melted, Garten added the eggs. “The key to scrambled eggs is to do it very slowly,” he explained.
“It actually makes the eggs really hard” to cook them quickly over high heat. “Protein, when cooked at a high temperature, becomes very tough, so you have to cook it at a very low temperature,” Garten said.
Cooked the eggs over medium-low heat. “Scrambled eggs are perfect for breakfast because it only takes a few minutes to prepare and then you can serve up a huge plate of scrambled eggs and everyone has fun,” she shared.
The Food Network host had another easy tip for cooking scrambled eggs: Garten used a rubber spatula to fold the eggs as she cooked them.
