In the framework of the International Nursing Day, which is commemorated on May 12, the government of Mexico City announced the basification of all health personnel in Mexico City, which will improve their working conditions.
According to the local health secretaryOliva López Arellano, 11 thousand 157 nurses work in this entity, of which three thousand attend in Health Centers and more than seven thousand in hospitals.
All of them will enter the new payroll in charge of the government of President Andrés Manuel López Obrador, who promotes the federalization of the country’s health system, a mechanism that will be accepted by the head of government, Claudia Sheinbaum Pardo, according to her statements in this Wednesday.
“This year we are going to enter a process together with the Government of Mexico for the federalization of health services, what will it mean? The basicization of all personnel and the improvement of working conditions”
— – said the president of the capital during a breakfast with nurses.
Along these lines, Sheinbaum Pardo explained that he will visit the Health Centers to provide information in this regard and that “there is not the slightest doubt” because it is for the good of the workers in this sector and the inhabitants of the city.
According to President López Obrador, the federalization of the health system plans to strengthen health centers and hospitals so that they function as “the best in the world.”
This new system, according to the head of the federal Executive, is to serve the open population, ‘those who do not have social security’; which represents just over half of Mexicans.
The federalization will allow to modernize, rehabilitate and equip hospitals and health centers; in addition to ordering first and second level care, which implies planning to execute works and resources.
Also, it is planned to strengthen the sufficiency of health personnel with the design of a contracting scheme and other actions that are required to transfer the personnel to IMSS-Wellness.
Data from the Ministry of Health indicate that this model will guarantee the regularization of the labor rights of more than 87 thousand workers.
So far Nayarit, Colima and Tlaxcala have signed the agreement to start the transfer process.
