Hermosillo, Sonora.- The Las Golondrinas soup kitchen invited the community of Hermosillo to support financially and/or with food, for around 60 vulnerable children and adolescents who are served.
Irasema León Millán, founder of the dining room in the Humberto Gutiérrez Corona neighborhood, explained that given the low amount of food donations received in the first two months of the year, the “Solidarity Pantry” fundraising campaign was reactivated, with the purpose of urging citizens to donate food for children
“It is the campaign that we reactivate every time we start to “scrape the pan”, we had a heavy January slope, January and February, where we hardly received donations, everything we received in December we stopped receiving in January, so anyway we had to give the children breakfast, right now we are receiving around 60 children every day, we try to give them a good breakfast, a decent breakfast, a complete breakfast.
We know that there are children that this breakfast is going to be their food for the whole day, so we look for a good breakfast to be offered to them, so that is why we reactivate this solidarity campaign to collect perishable and non-perishable food, “explained León Millan.
The foods to donate are: oil, rice, beans, puree, sugar, milk, eggs, sausages, ham, gallons of juice, oatmeal, spaghetti, cheese for quesadillas and powdered chocolate.
Irasema specified that donations are received from Monday to Saturday, from 8:00 a.m. to 9:00 p.m. and on Sunday, from 10:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m., at the collection center of the dining room, located in Farmacia León, on Paseo Las Quintas, between Quinta Blanca and Quinta Bella.
León Millán explained that those who wish to donate cash can also do so through the Hermosillo Food Bank, by visiting their page https://bahermosillo.org.mx/
“Those who want to make a cash donation to us are also inviting them to do so through the Food Bank, in this way the Food Bank helps itself and stays active, they also help us in the dining room and apart from that it is better for us, in The Food Bank can even triple the food that we can acquire through them for the prices they manage”, added the founder.
Donations can also be made through electronic transfers, to the Bancomer card number 4152 3137 7616 3268, in the name of Irasema León Millán. The password for the transfer is 012760004767694708.
