Ingredients:

  • half orange
  • 100g of whole wheat flour
  • 60g of unsalted butter
  • a chicken egg
  • 49gr of dates
  • two and a half teaspoons of ceylon cinnamon

Preparation:

The first thing to do is remove both the egg and the butter from the fridge to use them at room temperature. Before starting too, as a fact, even if you add 100g of flour, we may need a little more if the dough is not consistent enough, so it is important to add it little by little.

Meanwhile, we put the dates to soak in hot water for 10-15 minutes, once that time has elapsed, we take them out of the water and mash them with the help of a fork, reserving for later. It is also time to preheat the oven to 180ÂșC.

The next step is, in a bowl, add all the dry ingredients, that is, the cinnamon and the flour. Once united, add the butter, previously cut into small cubes, and integrate with your hands until there are no lumps.

In a different bowl, add the egg, the juice of half an orange, the grated orange peel and the dates. Mix everything well until you get a homogeneous mass. The next thing is to mix the two bowls, that is, add the dry ingredients to this mixture. We must have patience when mixing and do it well until it is homogeneous.

If we follow the amounts indicated, there will be a somewhat sticky dough that will stick to our hands, so we must add a little more flour until the dough is manageable enough without sticking to our hands.

Now we put it in the donut molds or we give it the shape of donuts with our hands, we place it on the oven tray and, with heat up and down, we bake it for 25 minutes. We must watch and turn around more or less when they take half the time. Then just let cool and enjoy!
