This Friday, March 11, Gabriel Boric will officially assume as president of the Republic of Chile in a change of command ceremony that will take place in the Hall of Honor of the National Congress in Valparaíso.
After a series of formal activities, and back in Santiago, the president will carry out the most awaited moment of the day when he delivers his first speech from the Palacio de La Moneda.
The first activity contemplated by Gabriel Boric for this Friday is a citizen breakfast at the Presidential Palace of Cerro Castillo, together with neighborhood leaders from Viña del Mar.
After that, the future president will hold a photo session with his cabinet and with the governors and governors.
At 11:15 am, the arrival of the President Elect and Irina Karamanos is scheduled for the National Congress together with a caravan of vehicles.
The change of command ceremony in Congress will begin at 12:00 p.m. and only 500 people will be able to attend due to the restrictions of the COVID-19 pandemic.
Boric’s speech at La Moneda
After the change of command ceremony and at around 6:00 p.m., the president-elect will travel in the traditional Ford Galaxy to the Palacio de La Moneda in Santiago, where he will be accompanied by the Minister of the Interior and Public Security, Izkia Siches .
After receiving the honors of the Palace Guard in La Moneda, in front of the Plaza de la Constitución, around 7:00 p.m., President Gabriel Boric will make his first speech to the country as head of state from the balcony of the Palace.
To end the marathon day, the president-elect and Irina Karamanos will receive greetings from national and international authorities around 8:00 p.m. from La Moneda.
