Oats, formally called Avena sativa, are a type of cereal grain in the Poaceae family of plants. It specifically refers to the edible seeds of oat grass, which is what ends up in our breakfast bowls. Oatmeal is also a unique cereal for those trying to lose weight. and control hunger levels due to its high content of water and soluble fiber.

This gluten-free whole grain is a great source of important vitamins, minerals, fiber and antioxidants. Various studies show that oatmeal and oatmeal have many health benefits. These include weight loss, lower blood sugar levels, and a lower risk of heart disease. Oatmeal contains manganese, phosphorus, magnesium, copper, iron, zinc, folate, vitamin B1 (thiamin), vitamin B5 (pantothenic acid), and smaller amounts of calcium, potassium, vitamin B6 (pyridoxine), and vitamin B3 (niacin). In 78 grams of dry oatmeal we find 51 grams of carbohydrates, 13 grams of protein, 5 grams of fat and 8 grams of fiber, and 303 calories, ideal for an energetic and balanced breakfast or lunch.

There’s no better way to start the morning than with a steaming bowl of freshly cooked oatmeal soaked in milk and smelling of cinnamon and honey. However, there are many more ways to include it in our diet.

Oatmeal, a widely consumed cereal

We can consume it for breakfast as muesli to elaborate bars to snack between meals. Another option is to take toasts of bread with oat crust, in biscuits (adding fruits such as blueberries), in Pancakeson biscuitson muffin coconut, mango and oatmeal. Oatmeal or oatmeal can also be added to any smoothie or juice of fruits.

In Anglo-Saxon countries it is very fashionable overnight porridge which is simply having oatmeal for breakfast that has been soaked in milk or water overnight in the fridge. Fruit crumble with oatmeal:

Is one of the easiest desserts to prepareand are infinitely customizable to fit any dietary restriction. Different nut-free, gluten-free, and vegetarian versions can be made.

Salmon and oatmeal burgers:

A combination of salmon and whole grain oats they make these burgers nutritious and delicious. We simply mix fresh salmon with two tablespoons of oatmeal, chives, mayonnaise, mustard and dill to taste.

Oatmeal upma:

Is a variant of a well-known Indian dish. Let’s pour oil into a frying pan. When hot, add cumin and mustard. Next, we add some onions and chopped vegetables like carrots, beans, and peas and fry them until softened. Add a cup of dry oatmeal and fry for one or two minutes. Sprinkle a little salt and pepper and finally garnish with grated coconut, coriander leaves and lemon slices.
